Wise Scam SMS Text:

Multiple internet sources confirmed that Wise has been deducting 2,000 from users’ accounts since May 2022. The latest message informed customers that their account would be charged 2,000 NSD on May 3rd or 6th 2022.

A screenshot of the text messages featured online showed that it was received from +61 (448)342-733. The message included a link for wiseloginauthenticate.com and transferwiseauthenticatelogin.com, advising the users to click on the link to cancel the payment deduction.

How does the Wise text Message Scam work?

This text message is a scam as Wise.com is the official website. The wiseloginauthenticate.com and transferwiseauthenticatelogin.com are scam website that takes advantage of the wise brand. Many internet scammers are not familiar with the messages, regardless of the name of the website.

Scammers want to make ignorant users panic and create urgency to click the link. These link-based scams are intended to collect personal and financial details. You can also click on such links to allow the website install mini-apps or ads on your device without authorization.

Avoiding Wise Text Message Scam:

Wise has provided help on avoiding phishing scams on their website at https://wise.com/help/articles/2932695/watch-out-for-phishing. Wise advises customers to not click on any link in messages and to check if the URL is identical to wise.com.

Wise warned its customers about fake websites that may attempt to steal customers’ identity, card information, and payment details. These messages should be ignored.

If the customers find a message including a different website URL (or) in case the customers believe that the message might be a missing attempt, they can contact wise customer support at https://wise.com/login/?redirectUrl=/help/contact.

@transferwisevictims however is a Facebook Group that includes wise customers who were victims of Wise Message Scam as well as other types of fraud. Most complaints in this forum indicated that the customer had transferred money from their bank account, but the beneficiary never received it.
