The PlayStation 4 was released in North America on November 15, 2013. It was first announced at E3 in June 2013 by Kazuo Hirai, President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment. The console is the successor to the PlayStation 3 (PS3) and has an AMD accelerated processing unit with eight cores and a GPU with 18 compute units. It also has 8 GB of GDDR5 RAM for its video memory, which is twice as much as the PS3!
