When you have thoughts and ideas flowing out of your brain, writing an essay can feel like a piece of cake.

However, essay writing can seem like the greatest burden in the world if you are lacking the motivation to begin writing.

These moments are common amongst the best of us, and in times like these we lose hope because there is just no way to finish the task let alone begin it.

This article is for all of you who often find yourself unmotivated about doing well on a writing assignment or an essay. I guarantee you; these tips will help you pick up the pen at the very least.

Without further ado, let’s dive right into it!

1.  Imagine having finished the essay

This may sound counter intuitive, but trust me on this one.

Right now you are just dreading the thought of writing the essay, which means you are only delaying it. Procrastinating is not going to get you anywhere.

Simply imagine having completed the essay, and think of the feeling you will get following that.

Between you and me, it is one of my favorite emotions. The sense of accomplishment and having completed a big task is like the biggest burden off your shoulders – that might even call for a small celebration.

2.  Set a goal

You don’t have to finish the entire thing in one sitting. There is a lot easier way to do this. Set some small goals that require you to write something on a daily basis.

Depending on how long your essay needs to be, you will need to start earlier in the week if you need to finish it in time.

But once you realize that you only have to write 150-200 words everyday, it will make the whole thing a lot less daunting.

3.  Go out!

Who said you have to write your essay while cooped up in your room? Go to a cafe or to a park.

The more refreshing your scenery is, the more motivation you will have to do things.

In fact, you can set up a reward system this way as well. Tell yourself that once you finish the essay, you will treat yourself to your favorite coffee because you deserve it!

4.  Ask a friend

If you are feeling extremely unmotivated about the essay, it would help you a lot to just talk to a friend.

Brainstorm some ideas with a close friend, and you will find yourself feeling excited about writing the essay because at this point you have all the ideas, you simply need to pencil everything down.

If you feel like you are short on time, just find an essay writer free on the internet.

5.  Get a caffeine kick

Sometimes all we need is a good caffeine kick for a little bit of motivation. This is a very important reason why you’ll see people with their notebooks or laptops at a Starbucks or a local cafe.
