1. Precautions Before Resetting macOS on a MacBook M2
Before restoring to factory settings, you should take note of the following to avoid losing personal data and to prevent errors during the process.
Backup Your Data: Resetting might erase all the data on your MacBook. Use software like Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper along with an external SSD to backup your data. Post-reset, Apple’s Time Machine can help retrieve your data.
Internet Connectivity: Ensure a stable internet connection. An unstable connection can prolong the reset process and cause interruptions.
Use Secure Networks: Employ networks with WEP or WPA security. Issues might arise if using proxy or PPPoE connections.
Log out of iTunes (for macOS Mojave or older): Go to iTunes > Account > Authorizations > Deauthorize This Computer > enter your Apple ID and password > Deauthorize.

2. How to Factory Reset MacBook M2

2.1. Via Internet Recovery from Apple

- Select the drive to install macOS and await completion.
2.2. Through the Mac App Store
- Click the Apple icon > Restart.

1 – Region Selection: Upon restart, choose your desired region.
2 – Keyboard Layout: If choosing Vietnam, you’ll be presented with Vietnamese and ABC as standard input methods.
3 – Restore from Time Machine: If you have a Time Machine backup, connect the drive to restore your data.
4 – Apple ID Login: Enter your Apple ID or opt to “Set Up Later.”
5 – Name and Password: Assign a username and password to your MacBook.
6 – FileVault Option: Decide if you wish to encrypt user data on your machine. If not needed, this can be deactivated.
