Two months have passed since the public launch of OpenAI’s AI chatbotChatGPT, and it didn’t take long for people to realize how significant this is.

Whether you snuck in a homework question (500 words on the end of World War Two?) or asked it to write you a song in the style of your favorite musician, no problem), assigned it to write copy for your company’s website, a speech, or even specific program code, ChatGPT has demonstrated its ability to deliver, and it did so in a convincing manner.

There have been a lot of reports about how it could hurt a lot of jobs and even our entire educational model if students could get their coursework done and college applications written right away using ChatGPT or its competitors.

Having said that, this technology is still relatively new. It only contains text, is limited to internet content as of 2021, and does not change. It presents its responses as true, despite the fact that, as is well known, the internet is full of false information, some of which is more dangerous than others.

We tried to get it to write an article for the BBC website, but the journalist who worked on it said that it needed a lot of prompting and changes before it was good enough to publish. In the end it actually was not adequate, so we didn’t.

When I explain SoMin’s ad copy and banner generation features, I often get asked if we replaced GPT-3 with ChatGPT or if we continue to use outdated models. “GPT-4 ‘Battle’ Is Just A Family Chat” I typically respond, “We haven’t, and we are not going to,” which frequently always surprises our clients. Let me explain why I’m responding this way, despite the growing popularity of ChatGPT, OpenAI’s first massive chatbot neural network.

The Seats At The Table

Above all else, GPT-2, GPT-3 and, logical, GPT-4 all have a place with a similar group of simulated intelligence models — transformers. This indicates that, in contrast to the models of the previous generation of machine learning, they are trained to solve more unified problems (also known as Meta-Learning), so they don’t need to be retrained for every task in order to get good results. In order for a model to be adaptable enough to “switch” between various pieces of data it has learned based on user input, it must “remember the whole Internet,” as the latter explains their enormous sizes (in the case of GPT-3, 175 billion parameters). The model is then able to produce the result when a user specifies an input query that includes a description of the task and a few examples, similar to how you would tell a librarian what kind of books you are interested in: voilà. When it comes to providing input for contemporary transformer models, this method, which is referred to as “few-shot learning,” has recently emerged as a fad.

But is it always necessary for us to have complete internet knowledge in order to complete a task? Absolutely not; in many instances, as with ChatGPT, we require a large number (well, a few million) of task-specific data samples for the model to initiate the “Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF)” process. RLHF, thusly, would veer off a cooperative preparation process directed among man-made intelligence and people to additional train the model to create drawing in human-like discussions. Subsequently, we have ChatGPT stunning us with superb execution in the Chatbot situation as well as assisting us with composing short-length content, similar to sonnets or tune verses, or extended content like full papers (Disclaimer: This article was entirely written by me, a human being); explaining complicated subjects in terms we can understand or in-depth knowledge when we need a quick response; generating fresh concepts through the process of brainstorming; and assisting sales departments with individualized communication, such as the generation of responses to emails.

The applications like “Daily news summarization” and “Weather forecast” were deliberately left out: Although large transformer models technically have the ability to attempt to solve such problems, ChatGPT and even GPT-4 are unlikely to be able to do so. This is due to the fact that ChatGPT and other OpenAI transformers are pretrained models, so their data updates are not occurring frequently enough due to the extremely high computational requirements of model retraining. This is probably the most significant drawback of all of the pretrained models that OpenAI—or anyone else—has developed thus far. ChatGPT is more specific to a larger problem: Because it was trained on a very specific conversational dataset, unlike GPT-3, ChatGPT will only be able to compete with its older brother in conversational tasks. However, it will be less advanced in other human productivity tasks.

A Growing Family

 Okay, now that we know that ChatGPT Sign Upis simply a smaller and more specific version of GPT-3, does this mean that additional models of this kind will emerge in the near future? MarGPT is for marketing, AdGPT is for digital ads, and MedGPT is for answering medical questions.

Here are some of the reasons why I think it might be possible: We were asked to agree to provide feedback on how we are using the model daily and the results we have received when SoMin submitted an application for access to GPT-3 Beta. Despite filling out a lengthy application form with a detailed explanation of the current software we are going to build, we were asked to agree to provide feedback. OpenAI did these because, as a primarily research project, they needed business insight on the best application of their models. In exchange for the chance to be a part of this great AI revolution story, they crowdfunded the project. ChatGPT was released first because it appears that the chatbot application was one of the most popular. Not only is ChatGPT faster than GPT-3 because it has fewer parameters (20 billion compared to 175 billion), but it is also more accurate at solving conversational tasks than GPT-3—a perfect business case for an AI product that is cheaper and of higher quality.
