Vaping can be a very customisable experience.

There are many settings and numbers to balance to achieve a great flavour, certain cloud sizes, and a smoother or stronger throat sensation.

One of the first ways you can cutomise your vaping experience is with your vape juice.

Your vape juice will typically have vegetable glycerine (VG), propylene glycol (PG), flavouring, and nicotine — all of which can be balanced.

A trip to your local vape shop will give you many options of flavours and types of vape juice.

How do you customise your vape juice properly, though?

PG and VG

Propylene glycol and vegetable glycerine are carriers of the flavouring and nicotine.

PG and VG levels can determine the size of the vapour clouds, the thickness of the vape juice, the flavour, and the throat sensation you receive.

The propylene glycol is thinner than VG, is typically used as the base of the vape juice, and helps boost the flavour.

It gives a more intense throat sensation than VG.

Vegetable Glycerine is a type of liquid that is syrup like sugar; therefore, it affects the overall taste of the vape juice.

VG is known to create bigger vape clouds.

To balance your vape juice to serve your wants and needs, you have to balance the PG and VG levels.

Balancing the ratios

For better overall flavour, you want to stick with a 50/50 or 60/40 PG to VG ratio.

A 50/50 ratio is the most common, since it delivers a great balance of flavour and throat sensations

This ratio produces small amounts of vapour clouds.

For bigger vapour clouds, a 60/40 ratio is better — while still delivering a really good flavour profile and decent throat sensation.

To protect your device, you do not want to have more VG than PG.

The more vegetable glycerin you have, the thicker the clouds and flavour will be, but your device’s coil may become clogged due to the thickness.

Finding your first device

When you are starting out on your vaping journey, it is good to start simple.

Choose a vape device that has a sensored draw activator or a simple button to press and hold to draw.

A vape juice with a 50/50 ratio is best, since it will have a smoother throat sensation and still be a lot like smoking a cigarette in the way it feels.

When looking for flavours, it is best to choose a plain flavour — staying away from sweet and minty ones.

There are many parts of vaping that are customisable.

This means there are many numbers and levels you need to balance to have the experience and flavour.

If you are just starting to vape, you should choose a vape juice which has a 50/50 or 60/40 PG/VG ratio to have the best experience.

Experiment with the ratios to find the combination you like best.

Go to your local vape shop to find the best vape juice for you, and enjoy your vaping experience.
